How do I download the trial version of Starry Night Backyard?
You need to complete the download form. Once you press the 'Submit' button on this form, you will be taken to a page with the download link.
I click on the download link and nothing happens. What's wrong? Top dsd player app for mac.
Your Internet connection may not support downloads from FTP sites (this is especially likely if you are downloading from the workplace). Please try the download from here. Click on Download Now.
How long should the download take?
The minimum download time will be about 30 minutes on a 56K modem, and about 50 minutes on a 33.6K modem (cable modems will obviously be much faster). Remember that this is a minimum, and the download can take longer if the server is busy.
The download connection was terminated partway through for some reason. What happened?
A connection can be cut off for many reasons. If the server is very busy, it may not transfer any data for a certain period of time, and your browser may think that the connection has been lost. You may wish to try downloading at a different time of day when the server is not likely to be so busy.
Where do I find the downloaded program so that I can install it (Windows only)?
This depends on how your Internet browser is set up. The Starry Night Backyard installer (named 'Backyard310.exe' will be saved in the directory where all your downloaded files are saved (this is often the Desktop). If you cannot find the file, click the 'Start' button on your Desktop and choose 'Find | Files or Folders' and search for 'Backyard'. When the file is found, just double-click on its name to install Starry Night Backyard.
I already have Starry Night Basic/Deluxe/Pro on my computer. Do I need to remove them before I install Starry Night Backyard?
No. Starry Night Backyard will be installed as a completely new program, and you can choose to keep the other version of Starry Night on your computer or remove it.
When I try to run the downloaded program, I get a message saying that the file is corrupted.
Unfortunately, this means that the download was unsuccessful for some reason and your computer can't install Starry Night Backyard. You will need to download the program again.

I double-click on the downloaded file and nothing happens (Mac only).
The downloaded file is in binary format and your computer should automatically uncompress this file after it is downloaded. If the name of the file you are trying to run ends in '.bin', then it was not automatically uncompressed and won't open. Drag the file over Stuffit Expander to uncompress it. This will create a new file with the same name except that it will not end in '.bin'. Double-click on this file to install Starry Night.
Starry Night Software Review
Why does my computer says there I not enough room to install the program, even though there was more than 13MB of space on the hard drive when I downloaded the program?
You actually need at least 26MB of space, because when you run the installer, the installer separates the original 13MB file into the different Starry Night files, but doesn't delete the original file. Once you have successfully installed Starry Night Backyard, you can delete the original downloaded file.
When I try to install the program, I get an 'Unhandled Exception' error message or a 'General Protection Fault' message. (Windows only).
This usually occurs if you have other applications or utilities running at the same time you run the installer. You should close all other applications, disable any anti-virus software utilities, and then try to run the installer again. Another possible culprit is the Microsoft IntelliPoint Wheel. To disable this during installation, press the Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys simultaneously. This will bring up a list of the tasks running on your computer. Click on the program 'mswheel', and then click the 'End Task' button.
For 'General Protection Fault', this is an error in the InstallShield program which Starry Night uses. Visit this page for solutions: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q192/8/90.asp
The installation seemed to go OK. How do I run the program?
The name of the application file is 'starrynight.exe' and it is in the 'Starry Night Backyard' folder on your hard drive. On Windows, you can run the program by clicking the 'Start' button on your desktop, then choosing 'Programs | Starry Night Backyard'.
Starry Night Software Windows 7
I have tried to download Starry Night several times, but every time, the download stops partway at exactly the same place. What's wrong?
What is probably happening is that your Internet browser has stored an incomplete version of the download in its temporary directory, and won't download the new version because it sees a version already on the computer. You should clear your cache and try the download again. You clear the cache as follows: if you use Internet Explorer (Windows version), open it and choose View | Internet Options, make sure the tab marked 'General' is pressed, and click the 'Delete Files' button in this window. If you use Internet Explorer (Mac version), pull down the Edit menu, click on Preferences, then look for Web Browser in the left column. Click on Advanced, look for Cache in the right column, click on Empty Now and then OK. If you use Netscape, choose Edit | Preferences | Advanced | Cache and press the 'Clear Memory Cache' and 'Clear Disk Cache' buttons.
